World Environment Day: our commitment

A few days ago, World Environment Day was celebrated on World Environment DayWorld Environment Day, a proposal of the United Nations, which aims to vindicate the importance of actions to reverse the effects of climate change. We, either as individuals or as a company, deserve a reflection. Would you like to do it with us?

Why is there a world environment day?

The Decade for Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), agreed by different organisations, was launched on 5 June. It aims to raise awareness to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation that all ecosystems of our planet have suffered since the first Industrial Revolution.

The Decade for Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), agreed by different organisations, was launched on 5 June. It aims to raise awareness to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation that all ecosystems of our planet have suffered since the first Industrial Revolution.

The destruction of ecosystems entails not only an alteration of the biodiversity necessary to maintain the planetary balance, but also the loss of the largest carbon sinks. Forests that have been cleared to make way for large-scale soya plantations. Increasingly depopulated oceans and the extinction of certain animal species, particularly large marine mammals, put us on a dangerous path that we are all aware of.

How do we contribute?

But why do we want to talk to you about this if we are just a brand of soft toys y teethers? Precisely because this situation depends on the collective effort of citizens, small and medium-sized companies and governmental institutions to be contained. We think about the impact of our business activity to make each and every production decision. And we believe that inspiring whoever reads us can add someone else on the road to change.

We created Knitabuddy with the intention of offering environmentally conscious families a sustainable play option. Our stuffed animals are made with organic Pima cotton, not only looking for a soft and shiny finish, but also looking to give back to the earth.

Our organic cotton is a natural fibre obtained from the traditional cultivation and harvesting of this cotton plant native to Peru. Without artificially modified seeds that seek to reduce their growth cycles and increase production at the expense of nature. Without fertilisers or pesticides that damage our oceans. Oceans through which our buddies travel for long days so as not to leave the huge carbon footprint of each plane journey.

Most of us in this society have the ability to make a positive difference to the environment. Whether it is by reducing our consumption of meat and fish, plastics and products containing them, choosing renewable energy utilities, travelling less by plane and choosing to buy less and higher quality.

I once read that everything we consume returns to the earth in the form of food or poison. We are clear about what we want our impact to be in the future, are you?
